Thanks to a high degree of functionality blended with sleek portability, smart phones are more popular than ever before. Models allow users to do a wide variety of tasks such as checking e-mail, surfing the web and even taking pictures, all without interrupting their busy schedule.

Indeed, we live in an increasingly mobile society, people want information as it happens, without having to work too hard to seek out the most current news and events. Smart phones easily fulfill this need because they function similarly to a computer that can be held in the palm of the hand. In years past, users would have to find a computer in order to catch up on the latest news. Since smart phones can help with so many daily tasks, it is no wonder that so many people consider themselves to be addicted to smart phones!

Social Networking Safety Measures

Networking is all the rage these days. Everyone seems to be Facebooking or Twittering; these are two of the most well-known. There are actually hundreds of sites that could be used for networking. These sites meet the need for dating, religious issues, school, etc. just to name a few.

In and of themselves they are a good idea, bringing people of similar need together to help and support each other. There are a few issues of safety with all of them.

It is very easy for a stranger to find out your personal information through other’s pages. Nothing is really private on any of these sites. Be aware that anything you paste on your page or a friend’s is basically public knowledge. Be careful of what sort of information you are putting out into cyberspace.

*Do not give your address.

*Do not place your phone number.

*Do not put any credit card numbers or bank account information.

*Do not place an questionable pictures.

If you have children using these sites, as a parent you need to be vigilant. Be sure you know whom your child is networking with. Do not be afraid or ashamed to check out their page periodically to see whom they are talking to and what they are posting. It is part of being a parent to keep your child safe. You are not spying on them!

Be aware that predators use these sites to locate victims, so always be on your guard. If someone that you do not know tries to contact you refuse to network with them. Safety first is the policy.

Computers aren’t just for word processing and research; they are for entertainment too. You can play games, talk with friends on social networking sites, and surf the Internet for recreation.  You can listen to music and download vlc to watch movies on the free vlc player.  When you have a computer and an internet connection, there’s always something to do.

One of the best ways to have fun online is playing computer games. There are first person shooter games, real time strategy games, the classics, and so much more to choose from. It all just depends on what you are in the mood to play. Many games even have multi-player modes where you can play against other people from all over the globe. This can be a fun way to meet new people that have the same interests as you. Social networking is also a lot of fun. You can post status updates, see pictures that your friends have recently uploaded, and even send messages back and forth, depending on which site you are using. Lastly, browsing the Internet can be quite entertaining. There is a seemingly endless amount of content to be read. The Internet is brimming over with resources that can help your business. Unfortunately, most people just overlook them, don’t want to take the time to use them, or assume that they won’t help. They also often try something for a few days, don’t get a flood of instant results, and decide that it’s not going to work. You have to build a business online, just like you do for a traditional, brick and mortar establishment. It’s not going to happen overnight, but that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t take advantage of the resources that are out there to help you, like SEO and social networking.

If your business doesn’t have profiles on all of the major social networks, now is the time for you to create them. Take the time to do that so you don’t get left in the dust by your competitors. You’re already behind if you’re not online, but you can catch up if you get started now, before your competitors get too much farther ahead of it. Social networking through companies like Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and others keep your name and information in front of customers. They need to be reminded that you’re out there, if you want them to buy from you.

Also, keep in mind that you need to stay interested in what your customers want from you. Survey tools can help with that. You can get online surveys and feedback questionnaires that will help your customers express how they think you’re doing. You need to know what they think, in case there are serious changes that you should be making. If you find that many customers are complaining about the same things, it’s time to implement some changes so that you’re better able to keep your business strong and healthy, with a good customer base.
